A child stood swallowing the sky with its eyes; the elders packed those eyes with earth, to suit themselves.

mannadaithal, to stop up with earth, is also what is done in filling a grave.

தோண்டும் முனரே துளைக்கும் முளைநுனிவேண்டும் முனரே வினா

Before anyone digs the ground, a sprout’s tip has already pierced it; before the need, the question.

26. Asking opens the world

வினவும் உளத்தார்க் குலகெல்லாம் நூலாம்வினவார்க் குலகம் சுவர்

vinavum ulathaark kulakellaam noolaamvinavaark kulakam suvar

To those whose hearts ask, the whole world is a book; to those who do not ask, the world is a wall.
