90. Anger gives itself away

கட்டிய சாம்பல் கனலில்லை யென்பார்தம்விட்டதொரு மூச்சில் விளக்கு

kattiya saambal kanalillai yenpaarthamvittadhoru mooschil vilakku

They say there is no ember in the banked ash; one breath of theirs makes a lamp of it.

Banked ash is packed down over a fire; an ember can live on beneath it, and a single breath makes it glow again.

91. Reaching for more

கைப்பிடி மீறிப் பிடித்தார் இழந்ததேகைப்பிடி யென்னும் அளவு

kaippidi meerip pidithaar izhandadhekaippidi yennum alavu

Those who grasp beyond a handful lose the handful itself.

92. Wanting starts again

அகழ்ந்தனைத் தூரும் மணற்குழி போலமுகந்தனைத் தூரும் அவா

akazhndanaidh thoorum manarkuzhi polamukandanaidh thoorum avaa

Sand pours back every handful dug from the pit; desire, every handful taken from it.

Taking from desire means getting what it wanted. Dry sand slides back into any hollow dug in it.
